Case Study
the case
To raise money for charity, I teamed up with PRO-Keds to design a pair of sneakers with all proceeds going to charitable causes. The journey began with a deep dive into the PRO-Keds archive, exploring various silhouettes. I ultimately chose the Royal Hi for its simplicity, classic appeal, and ease of wear.
The design process started with sketching concepts and cutting out paper designs for the patch. I worked closely with the PRO-Keds design team, who were amazing collaborators. We shared images and concepts through texts, emails, and phone calls, ensuring every detail was meticulously planned.
Creating color stories was a crucial part of the process. Black and brown have always been my favorite colors to work with, serving as anchors in my work. After selecting the color palette, I began searching for the best fabrics and materials for the shoes. I decided on black suede, which elevated the design to a new level of sophistication.
This collaborative effort spanned several months, involving countless iterations and refinements. In the end, we emerged with a product we were incredibly proud of.
The sneakers sold out within the first 36 hours, a testament to the success of our collaboration and the support for our charitable mission.

The design process for the PRO-Keds x MR. TOMONOSHi!i Royal Hi sneaker reflects Mr. Tomonoshi's impeccable taste and commitment to quality. The sneaker features a black suede upper paired with a peanut butter-colored sole and toe box, creating a striking contrast that is both stylish and timeless.
A standout feature is the chenille patch on the side, emblazoned with the phrase "GO Play." This patch not only adds a tactile element to the design but also serves as a call to action, encouraging wearers to embrace creativity and playfulness in their daily lives.
On the front of each shoe's tongue, an eyeball graphic is prominently displayed. This unique detail is a reminder for the wearer to keep looking forward and moving ahead, embodying the spirit of progress and optimism.
The mantra "The World Is Your Playground" is inscribed on the mid-sole, a phrase I originally coined for his Forbes 30 Under 30 keynote. This slogan encapsulates the essence of the collaboration, inspiring individuals to view the world as a space for endless possibilities and adventures.
The interior of the sneaker features a leather insole, ensuring comfort and durability. Every aspect of the shoe reflects high quality and my distinctive vision, making it a true masterpiece in the world of footwear.
