"Mostly Football" is not your typical sports show. When I was approached to create a sports program, I envisioned something far more playful and culturally rich. I wanted to create a show that didn't just talk about sports but also explored the world, movies, art, music, food, and the joy of learning and trying new things. Yahoo and Complex loved the idea, and thus "Mostly Football" was born.
In this groundbreaking show, I took on multiple roles, including writing, directing, designing the set, creating the logo and branding, and composing the theme music.
As the host, I engaged in sketch comedy with friends, made music with strangers, created art, sumo wrestled, participated in lucha libre, and hosted cannabis dinner parties. The show was a collision of diverse elements, making it the most playful sports show to ever exist.
"Mostly Football" featured an impressive lineup of guests, including athletes like Ochocinco, Arian Foster, Deontay Wilder, Michael Bennett, Deandre Jordan, Matt Barnes, and Travis Kelce; musicians like Curren$y, Action Bronson, Bun B, Kevin Gates, Big Boi, and Jordin Sparks; and actors and comedians like Danny Trejo, Tony Rock, DC Young Fly, Amanda Seales, Finesse Mitchell, and many others.
It was truly a groundbreaking show, the first of its kind, blending sports with a vibrant tapestry of culture and creativity.
We were able to make something that athletes are still trying to accomplish today. "Mostly Football" paved the way for many alternative and more culturally relevant sports shows to exist today.
