Shadows

Silhouettes

The Art of Simplicity

Photo Essay

MR. TOMONOSHi! Photography: Shadows

My shadow is interesting to me; I never fail to acknowledge it. My shadow is bold—it sometimes stretches over 20 feet tall. My shadow is me in my simplest form, and that is what intrigues me the most. There's no detail, yet you can recognize a person just by their shadow.

I learned how important a silhouette was to identification from watching Pokémon's "Who's That Pokémon?" I was able to guess every character in the show just by their shadow, thanks to their distinct characteristics. I have never looked at shadows the same way ever again after that.

Shadows and Silhouettes are my Pokémon shots. They instantly become playful because you have to guess who or what they belong to. I find it fascinating how much story appears when you remove details; it leaves so much space for the viewer to imagine.

These photos capture the essence of shadows and silhouettes, inviting you to explore the simplicity and mystery they hold.

Adventure Awaits…

The shadows may conceal, but truth inevitably emerges into the light, revealing all that was hidden.
